Programs and Services

At a time when faith-based institutions are recognized as vital agents of social change, grass roots organizations are increasingly essential to preserving democracy, and traditionally invisible ethnic minorities are growing in numbers and influence, the National Catholic Council for Hispanic Ministry performs a significant role in providing a national network and forum for the religious, social, professional and civic advancement of Roman Catholic Hispanics/Latinos in the United States. The different types of programs that NCCHM offers to meet its goals are:

  • RAICES Y ALAS – ROOTS & WINGS a National Hispanic Leadership Congress.
This National Hispanic Leadership Congress took place on May 22-25 2003, at University of Notre Dame.

  • HISPANIC LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INTIATIVE PROGRAM
The goal of this program is to foster Latino leadership based on Gospel values and our cultural heritages and a vision of Christians as transforming agents of church and society.

  • STEWARDSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Through a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, this program offers training to the Hispanic Community in the discipline of fund raising in a Hispanic/Religious context. Participants are taught fund raising principles and techniques involved in building a comprehensive development program.

  • PUENTES, A BILINGUAL NEWSLETTER
This is a critical instrument for providing a national focus on Hispanic/Latino Catholic developments. This newsletter is distributed to more than 8000 Hispanic Leaders throughout the United States. It is issued on a trimonthly basis. To download the most recent issue, please click here.

  • NCCHM ANNUAL MEETING
NCCHM convenes its 60+ member organizations annually to provide a national network and forum of dialog.

  • RESEARCH STUDIES
NCCHM has conducted two exploratory studies in relation to the needs of Hispanic Catholic Lay Ministry Formation and the Evangelization of Young Hispanic Professionals.

  • INTERNET
The NCCHM website has become a resource of information for our members and abroad. In the future we will become a portal for our members and others on the Internet to exchange information, news, data and opinions.
